Sonya

Category:

A new sweet apple from New Zealand. Sonya is a very attractive looking bi-coloured apple with an unusual elongated shape, not dissimilar to a Red Delicious. The flavour is also unusual being quite fragrant, some say reminiscent of sugar cane, and very sweet – this is not a variety for those that prefer a tang to their apples! The texture is crunchy, but satisfying and the overall effect is quite irresistible.

Origin: Otago, New Zealand. A Gala x Red Delicious cross. Released in 2002.

Grown in: New Zealand, Washington State
