Cosmic Crisp

Cosmic Crisp is a medium to large apple with a deep crimson red blush and a uniform round-conical shape. The blush generally covers the whole apple though there is often a hint of the pale green or yellow background in places. The appearance is very attractive and is enhanced by a scattering of yellow lenticels.

On biting into the white flesh of the apple there is an immediate cracking and shearing quality to the texture and a good crispness to the flesh on chewing. The taste sensation is of excellent sweetness with a distinct acidity that gives a lovely balance to the experience. There is a slight flavour experience as well, perhaps floral or perfumed. The skin is of medium thickness and can be detected during chewing but is not a distraction.

Growers are attracted to the variety for its exceptional long-storage capability, unique full colouration, as well as its organoleptic qualities.

Good Fruit Guide Rating: *****
