An early Clementine variety which is taking over from Marisol as it has much improved internal quality. Clemenruby is a good looking fruit with slightly pebbled, mid-orange peel which is quite easy to remove, though can break into pieces. The segments are fine, soft and juicy with a good balance of sweetness to acidity.
Primasol is an early Clementine variety. The flavour is very good: sweet with good acid balance for so early in the season. The shape is quite spherical with a good deep orange peel which is quite markedly pebbled. The fruit feels firm and has a fairly tough, tight peel which can be a little difficult to break, though does come away reasonable easily. The segments are pale to mid-orange, slightly raggy, but firm, juicy and seedless.
On account of its eating quality, Clemenruby is rapidly taking over from Marisol as the main early-season Clementine variety in Spain.
Grown in: Spain, South Africa
Harvest & Availability: Harvest in Spain generally starts in early October, but the earliest fruit can be available at end of September.
