Gusocora is a mid-season Valencia-type seedless orange. It has medium to large size fruit with a round to oval shape. The peel is slightly pebbled and of medium thickness, and achieves a deep orange colouration when mature. Peeling the fruit is similar to other Valencia-types, i.e. fairly tough, but easy if scored with a knife. The eating quality of Gusocora is very good with high levels of sweetness, a distinct ‘Valencia’ flavour, and excellent juice content. The segments can be a little ‘raggy’ on chewing, but this does not detract from the experience.
Growers are attracted to Gusocora due to its productivity, high internal quality, good fruit set in warmer areas, and capacity for hanging on the tree when mature, thus extending the harvest.
