Royal Dawn is an early cherry variety with Garnet red to dark ruby skin. Berry size is large and the flesh is firm and meaty with excellent flavour: a good sugar : acid balance. The variety is popular as the fruit can hang on the tree for 10-14 days, and post-harvest storage life is good.
Harvest is 10-11 days earlier than Bing.
Origin: California. Royal Dawn was selected in 1984 and patented in 2001 by Zaiger Genetics.
