Flame is an impressive round-fruited red grapefruit with smooth thin skin which has a moderate pink blush. The juice content is good and the flesh is quite firm.
Origin: Flame was released as a new variety in 1987 having been discovered as a natural mutation of Ruby Red in Houston, Texas. Flame is attractive to growers as it has more cold tolerance than other similar varieties.
Grown in: Flame is a mid-late season variety and is mainly grown in Florida and Argentina.
