Flat or Donut peaches are one of the more reliably sweet stone fruit from the Mediterranean and are perfect as a snack or in a lunch box. They are so easy to eat as well, with their little ‘finger-hold’ dimple in the centre.
With the season underway from Spain, prices are starting to come down, particularly in Tesco who are at least half the price of other supermarkets this week (49p per pack of 4 to 6 fruit – 8p to 12p each: bargain!).
Sales will continue until end of September, so make them a regular in your shopping basket. They will soften within 2-3 days, though should last a little longer in the fruit bowl and can be kept in the fridge to reduce speed of ripening.
