Primasol is an early satsuma-type variety, maturing a few days later than Okitsu. It is not a pure satsuma, and although the flavour is similar to Okitsu, it lacks its acidity. The fruit shape is quite round, and it feels more firm and peels with more difficulty than a satsuma. The peel is a pale yellow-orange, and on removal can leave some pith around the segments, which are firm, juicy and seedless.
