Maprang is an edible tropical tree fruit common in Malaysia, Sumatra, Java and Thailand.
When ripe, the fruit visually resembles a small yellow mango (often called plum mango or Gandaria) or apricot, and, indeed, is related to the mango. There are a number of different selections of Maprang. The older varieties have flesh which is flavoursome with a distinct sweet / sour tanginess, while the more recent selections are sweet and tend to be slightly larger. The stone is similar to a mango stone, but smaller.
