Maylen® or Iniagrape-One is a black seedless table grape. The skin colour is actually a uniform dark blue and the medium to large berries are ellipsoid in shape, reaching a diameter of 20-22 mm. The skin has slight resistance on biting, though has no bitterness, while the flesh is soft and bursts with juice. The sweetness levels are high and acid balance is good (19-21 brix and 0.9-1% acidity at harvest). The flavour is attractive, said to be Muscat-like and fresh.
The berries normally contain 2 to 3 rudimentary soft seed traces and very occasionally contain a fully developed seed.
Iniagrape-One is described as a mid-season, blue-black seedless grape.
Growers are attracted to Iniagrape-One as a mid-late season alternative to Autumn Royal, and due to its good keeping and shipping qualities; easy of growing, and ease of colouring. There is also no problem with of shatter during harvest or post-harvest.

Origin: Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA), Chile. Iniagrape-One is the result of the controlled hybridisation between Flame Seedless x Black Seedless performed in 1998 in Santiago. Plants were produced from maternal parent
Flame Seedless using embryo rescue procedures. The original vine was planted in 2000 at La Platina Experiment Research Centre in Santiago Chile and selected in 2004. Maylen® is the marketing name given to the variety.

Harvest & Availability: In Chile, Iniagrape-One is harvested in mid-February in the central area (Aconcagua Valley) and in late December in the northern Copiapo region. Supplies to the UK tend to be as follows:
