Mangoes from Israel are on the European markets from early August to September. The range of mango varieties exported has unusual breadth as it includes a number of interesting and tasty premium varieties, as well as the standard Florida types (Kent, Keitt & Tommy Atkins). Look out for any of the following, most of which have great flavour as well as sweetness:

Lili
Shelley
Maya
Omer
Osteen
Sainsbury’s is probably the most consistent seller of these varieties of mango, but Tesco and Waitrose are also stockists.
